Janie Busbee
Founder
Mother To Mother is a non-profit organization founded by Janie Busbee in 2004. She had a heart to connect those wanting to help newborn babies with the case workers and healthcare professionals who saw the greatest needs firsthand.
“We saw the needs that case workers and hospital nurses have when parents don’t have the basic items necessary to care for a child,” she said. “We knew there were people out there who would want to help, but maybe didn’t know how. So we created Mother To Mother to be the conduit between moms who want to help and moms who need it.”
Since our inception, we have distributed diapers, car seats, clothes, cribs, strollers, products, gear, and other essential baby items to low-income children from newborn to age 10.
Jeanine Garner
Executive Director
Jeanine Garner joined Mother To Mother as its Executive Director in 2017. She spent 17 years working in IT in the healthcare field, most recently as the Director of QA at HCA in Nashville. Prior to that, she worked for a mortgage lending software company for nearly a decade.
But on the side, Jeanine was helping her close friend Janie Busbee with her mission to help those in need. She had been involved with Mother To Mother as a volunteer for four years before deciding to make it a full-time endeavor.
“I decided I wanted to help Janie take the organization to the next level,” Jeanine said. “We had talked about it for about two years before I made the move, but I fell in love with the impact we are making on our community. I love helping those who need it most: babies and children. I love giving the parent or parents some relief in a time of crisis. We are making a difference one child at a time.”
She said she loves it when case workers and social workers refer to Mother To Mother as a ‘one-stop shop’, which is a direct reflection of the hard work of doing everything they can possibly do to secure the items these moms need.
Rachel Brown
Community Partner Liaison & Warehouse Coordinator
Rachel graduated from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville in May of 2020 with a degree in Child and Family Studies-Community Outreach. She is so excited to join the Mother To Mother team and pursue her passion of serving children and families throughout Middle Tennessee.
“Mother To Mother works to provide essential relief when families need it most,” Rachel said. “Whether it be a natural disaster, global pandemic, or a simple day-to-day need that is not being met, Mother To Mother steps in to ensure each infant and child has the vital items they need to survive.”
Mother To Mother is always accepting donations and relies on our community to provide for the families we help. From a place to sleep to a safe car seat to ride in, Mother To Mother is constantly working towards all children in Tennessee having these necessary items.
